Barry Downing is a senior operations executive with extensive P&L experience across Canadian, European, and Australasian markets. He has created significant realized value for shareholders while positioning organizations for sustainable, long-term success.
With a background that bridges executive leadership and applied neuroscience, Barry combines more than 20 years of senior management experience with a Master of Educational Neuroscience. His work integrates evidence-based approaches to leadership, learning, and performance improvement across both private and public sectors.
Barry has served in executive and board-level roles, including Managing Partner for a private equity fund, CEO of a multinational engineering company based in Italy, and VP Operations for an international management consulting firm. He has led major corporate turnarounds and held directorships in government and education, including appointments by the Quebec government to Cegep and Emploi Québec Outaouais boards.
A retired naval officer, Barry is also an expert coach in leadership, continuous improvement, and organizational transformation. He holds Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification and degrees in Administration and Strategic Studies from Collège Militaire Royal.
Fluent in English and French, with working knowledge of Italian, Barry now partners with Colin Newhouse & Associates as a coach and advisor for all levels of management. He is also accredited in all diagnostic technologies from Human Synergistics.
